Recommendations for a UK Carp fishing break
|
Looking for somewhere decent to go with a party of 4, for around 3-5 nights at the beginning of October.
I've been searching around for log cabins, ideally with exclusivity to the lake, or at least not sharing with day anglers.
Travelling from KENT, so any distance under 3 hours would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

How about Blue Pool in Burghfield, berks, no log cabin but you can book the lake and fish for some cracking carp up to 40+

It's not just carp that the Easties pinch.
They love a longline in the local Rivers Wid, Can and Chelmer , despicable backwards disrespectful cunts. Messy bastards by the bank as well.
Getting very difficult to catch decent sized fish from my local club BDAC stretch of the WId.
Sorry is that racist?

my 10 year old son (8 at the time) had two around that size on a bubble float in an hour
I've not had one so get that in the ear off the little sod all the time
Carp are getting bigger too, a few 30 pluses have been coming out which used to be rare

Egg, my pal had a 15lb Sturgeon out of there on the pole, took him all over the fucking place! We love it there, like you say that clubhouse is lovely sitting outside with a beer, cant wait to get back down there for the weekend, the lake record went a few weeks ago to a 32lb fish.

They're not mine I'm afraid, Mallard but I find the practice deplorable.
No, carp is not food by any stretch of the imagination and if caught they should have the book thrown at them for nicking stock.
But I suppose most owners don't bother pressing charges.

Many thanks for all the suggestions -
Crass - I'm slightly tempted with France as Dover is only 30 mins away from me, I'll speak to the rest of the group and mail you
H&P - Kindly tell your natives to stop stealing the fish to eat

My nephew has been to both a couple of times and he has always caught well. Mill Farm has Carp over 20lb.
Kettleby has a great selection of lakes and Carp to over 30lb, along with some big Tench, Bream and Barbel.

I'd drive south into France personally but if it's England only, Wintons perhaps? Bruno will be your man for the Cotswold water park area, which will offer what you have described Chequertree looks ideal mind and if lads here have been and recommend it, that's the one

Me and three pals do a weekend at chequertree every year, not just carping but tench and sturgeon too. Lovely place, cracking curry house up the road as well, go again in August.

If you know there's carp in the swim how can you resist a free-floating crust?

Looking for nice secluded setting with several swims close to lodge. Would fish early mornings to late evenings but sleep in accommodation.
Carp up to 30 would be sufficient, and other fish not a problem. Probably look at only using 2 rods, ledger and float.

Mallard 3 hours from kent gives you exactly what you want in France mate That aside, what is your hope from the trip, runs water or a chance of a 40? Cabins/Bivy or fishing as priority? Give me a want list and let's see what we can come up with
